IBS covers so many differing symptoms that in a way it has become a blanket description for any mystery symptoms to do with the stomach and bowels. Symptoms can swing between diarrhoea and constipation, accompanied by bloating, wind and pain.
Often people will try eliminating certain foods that seem to trigger their IBS. Sometimes this
helps and other times it baffles as some foods that had been considered safe suddenly
seem to cause a problem. The list of foods to
avoid can seem endless.
Many people believe that stress plays an important part in the arrival of IBS and as a constant aggravator of the symptoms of IBS. Chinese medicine suggests that if past anger, frustration and resentment was not released in a healthy way, then it would have been pushed down to the stomach and bowels causing heat in these areas. The ultimate result is IBS or any one of a number of other stomach issues including ulcers.
